"LEMONADE MOUTH," A DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE, SET TO PREMIERE FRIDAY, APRIL 15 ON DISNEY CHANNEL
-- Soundtrack Debuts Tuesday, April 12 -

Themes of "believing in yourself," "following your dreams," "celebrating family" and "staying true to yourself" are explored in the triumphant, music-driven "Lemonade Mouth," a Disney Channel Original Movie based on the book of the same name, set to premiere FRIDAY, APRIL 15 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The movie joins the powerhouse franchise that has delivered cable TV's No. 1 original movie telecast in Total Viewers for the past four years and TV's No. 1original movie among Tweens 9-14 for the past nine years.

Geared towards kids, tweens and families, "Lemonade Mouth" tells the story of how a powerhouse band came to be after five uncelebrated students with a passion for music find each other and ultimately become the voice of their generation.

Directed by award-winning film director Patricia Riggen ("La Misma Luna") and executive-produced by Debra Martin Chase ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," Disney Channel's "The Cheetah Girls" movies), the movie showcases a remarkably talented cast led by popular stars of Disney Channel hits: Bridgit Mendler ("Good Luck Charlie") as lead vocalist Olivia White, Adam Hicks (Disney XD's "Zeke and Luther") as keyboardist Wen Giford, Hayley Kiyoko ("Wizards of Waverly Place") as electric guitarist Stella Yamada, Naomi Scott (Disney Channel UK's "Life Bites") as bass guitarist Mohini and newcomer Blake Michael (who landed the role via an open casting call), as percussionist Charlie Delgado. Also starring are: Nick Roux ("The Suite Life on Deck") as Scott Pickett, Chris Brochu ("Soul Surfer") as Ray Beach, Tisha Campbell-Martin ("My Wife and Kids") as music teacher Miss Reznick and Christopher McDonald ("Boardwalk Empire") as Principal Brenigan.

The movie's soundtrack, featuring original songs spanning hip-hop, rock and pop/rock, will be available from Walt Disney Records TUESDAY, APRIL 12 on iTunes and in stores nationwide. Eighteen year-old Adam Hicks has songwriting credits on three of the music tracks, marking the first time a cast member has written a song performed in a Disney Channel Original Movie.

"Lemonade Mouth" introduces an unlikely ensemble of five students -- Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie - who, after meeting in detention, gradually realize their shared musical connection and belief that it's time for the students of Mesa High to stand up and be heard on things big and small (ranging from the school Principal's exclusive support of the athletic programs to the removal of the popular organic lemonade from the cafeteria). Ultimately, as they open up to each other and form friendships, they start a band -- Lemonade Mouth --that soon resonates with students sidelined by the high school elite. However, not everyone in the school is ready to cheer them on, especially since the popular rock group Mudslide Crush is determined to maintain their headline status and win the coveted Rising Star music competition at Mesa High.

Based on the book Lemonade Mouth by Mark Peter Hughes, the script was written by April Blair, and is directed by award-winning Patricia Riggen ("La Misma Luna" aka "Under the Same Moon"), executive-produced by Debra Martin Chase ("The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants," Disney Channel's "The Cheetah Girls" movies), co-produced by Gaylyn Fraiche ("Just Wright," "Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2") and choreographed by Chris Scott ("So You Think You Can Dance"). "Lemonade Mouth" was filmed on location in Albuquerque, New Mexico, and is a production of GWAVE Productions, LLC.

Family Channel takes a rock ‘n’ roll journey from detention to Madison Square
Garden with the Disney Channel Original Movie Lemonade Mouth premiering on Friday, April 22 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Adding to the long weekend lineup, Family delivers a Night of Premieres featuring new episodes, new seasons and sneak peeks surrounding the movie premiere.

Starring Bridgit Mendler (Good Luck Charlie), Adam Hicks (Zeke and Luther), Hayley Kiyoko (Wizards of Waverly Place), Naomi Scott (Life Bites) and newcomer Blake Michael, Lemonade Mouth introduces an unlikely ensemble of five students (Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie) who, after meeting in detention, realise they share a musical connection. The teens also share a strong belief that it’s time for the students of Mesa High to stand up and have their voices heard regarding issues big and small – from the school principal’s exclusive support of the athletic programs to the removal of the popular organic lemonade from the cafeteria.

As the group become friends they start a band, Lemonade Mouth, and find that their music resonates with those students that feel sidelined by the high school elite. However, not everyone in the school is ready to cheer them on, especially since the popular rock group Mudslide Crush is determined to maintain their headline status and win the coveted Rising Star music competition at Mesa High. Lemonade Mouth is directed by the award-winning Patricia Riggen (La Misma Luna aka Under the Same Moon), executive-produced by Debra Martin Chase (The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants and Disney Channel’s The Cheetah Girls movies) and co-produced by Gaylyn Fraiche (Just Wright, Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants 2).

Leading to the premiere of Lemonade Mouth, new episodes air on Family Channel from 5:30 p.m. ET/PT, beginning with a new episode of What’s Up, Warthogs! In “Trashbusters,” Victoria starts a recycling program at West Hill. When empty bottles go missing, Charlie becomes convinced a ghost is haunting the A/V studio.

Next up is a special alternate ending episode of Wingin’ It at 6 p.m. ET/PT. When Porter accidentally beams Jane into a science fiction film, it’s up to Carl to enter the world of the movie to convince her to come back to reality. Following the episode, viewers can log on to family.ca to comment on how they think the episode should have ended. On Monday, April 25 at 4:30 p.m. ET/PT, the same episode will air again with a completely different ending to show how the series could have changed for the characters.

At 6:30 p.m. ET/PT, in a new episode of Shake It Up titled “Hot Mess It Up,” CeCe and Rocky host a video webcast offering advice to teens, but wind up giving bad dating advice to a fellow student who they mistake for Gunther. Now CeCe and Rocky need to devise a plan to mend the boy’s heart.

Adding to the long weekend excitement – and giving viewers their second dose of Brigit Mendler – the highly anticipated series Good Luck Charlie returns for its second season at 7 p.m. ET/PT. In the season premiere, Charlie is turning two and, after an unsuccessful bid to get her tickets to the sold out Gurgles concert, Teddy, PJ and Gabe get caught sneaking Charlie into the venue. Meanwhile, Bob somehow winds up with a stolen miniature horse for Charlie’s birthday party, landing both he and Amy behind bars.

A new episode of Wizards of Waverly Place at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT, sees Zeke take up magic as a hobby and Alex casts a spell on him to help him master his tricks.

Following Lemonade Mouth at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT, Family is offering a sneak peek of its newest Canadian original series, DEBRA! In this new show, eccentric Debra Delong is on a mission to improve the world, whether it’s ready for her or not! The series is set to premiere on Family Channel in June 2011.

Official Disney Press Release For LEMONADE MOUTH

PATRICIA RIGGEN SET TO DIRECT “LEMONADE MOUTH,”
A MUSIC-DRIVEN DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIE

Award-winning film director Patricia Riggen, who directed the critically acclaimed “La Misma Luna” (aka “Under the Same Moon”) and this week presents her short film, “Revolución” at Critics’ Week in Cannes, will direct the music-driven “Lemonade Mouth,” a Disney Channel Original Movie.

The “Lemonade Mouth” script was written by April Blair based on the popular novel by Mark Peter Hughes. Executive-produced by Debra Martin Chase (“Just Wright,” “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants,” Disney Channel’s “The Cheetah Girls” movies), it will begin production in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in July.
In making the announcement, Ms. Martin Chase said: “Having Patricia at the helm of this movie is a dream come true for me and a testament to the climate Disney Channel creates for a flow of new ideas, interesting talent, creative risk-taking and willingness to explore new areas — all essential for our business.”

A native of Guadalajara, Ms. Riggen worked as a newspaper journalist in Mexico, then as a photographer, before moving to New York City to attend Columbia University’s Masters Film program, where she pursued her interests in screenwriting, producing and directing. Her first documentary was 2002′s “La Milpa,” followed by 2004′s “Family Portrait,” which won the Short Filmmaking Award at Sundance and the Best Documentary Award at the Aspen Film Festival.

Riggen’s “La Misma Luna” premiered at the 2007 Sundance Film Festival and was quickly acquired for worldwide distribution by Fox Searchlight and The Weinstein Company. It was released theatrically as “Under the Same Moon” in March 2008, setting records for a Spanish language film opening in the U.S. It is the third-highest grossing Mexican film of all time in the U.S. and the fifth in its own country.

Casting is underway for “Lemonade Mouth,” a script about five teens from different walks of life who meet in detention and go on to form the greatest high school garage band ever. The ensemble features Olivia on vocals, Stella on electric guitar, Wen on keyboards, Charlie on percussion and Mohini on bass guitar, and their wide-ranging music, from pop to rock and hip hop to soul, ultimately brings them together as friends and inspires their classmates to speak up and be heard.

The over 80 titles in the Disney Channel Original Movie franchise are the ratings success stories around the world. In the U.S., across all basic cable, the DCOM franchise has produced basic cable’s #1 movie with Kids 6-11 and/or Tweens from 2002-09 (“Cadet Kelly,” “The Cheetah Girls,” “Halloweentown High,” “Twitches,” “The Cheetah Girls 2,” “High School Musical 2,” “Camp Rock” and “Wizards of Waverly Place The Movie,” respectively).

Lemonade Mouth 2 Press Release

This is the press release announcing the Lemonade Mouth 2 DCOM, as well as a DCOM about Disney Channel's Shake It Up television series;

DISNEY CHANNEL ORIGINAL MOVIES “LEMONADE MOUTH 2″ AND “SHAKE IT UP” IN DEVELOPMENT

Disney Channel announced at Licensing International Expo 2011 that Disney Channel Original Movie (DCOM) “Lemonade Mouth 2,” the sequel to the hugely popular movie, is currently in development, along with a DCOM based on the hit buddy comedy series “Shake It Up.”

The music-filled kid, tween and family movie “Lemonade Mouth” is a dynamic story in which music intersects with themes of communication, personal development and empowerment. Central to the core storyline are five teenagers who are profoundly changed when a music teacher motivates them to throw “what-ifs” out the window, pursue their true passion, form a band and, ultimately, seize the opportunity to express their unique selves – despite lack of support from the school administration. After premiering in April as the year-to-date’s No. 1 cable movie in Total Viewers and No. 1 television movie with Tweens 9-14, in its 16th telecast, ”Lemonade Mouth” is still going strong, again ranking No. 1 for the day among Kids 6-14 and Tweens 9-14.”

“Lemonade Mouth 2″ will reunite fans with Olivia, Wen, Stella, Mohini and Charlie, and feature all-new music.

The hit buddy comedy series set in the world of a tween dance show, “Shake It Up, Chicago!,” has generated development plans for a DCOM debut. The comedy series features two high-spirited characters, best friends CeCe Jones and Raquel “Rocky” Blue, whose dreams of becoming professional dancers are realized when they become background dancers on the most popular teen dance show, “Shake it Up, Chicago!,” a gig they land thanks to their longtime and well-connected friend, Deuce. Between learning a wide range of new dance styles, navigating the backstage antics at the show (especially with their rivals Tinka and Gunther) and their newfound social status at school, the girls experience new and fun adventures, some that test their friendship.

“Shake It Up” is TV’s No. 1 series with Kids 6-11 (1.8 million/7.3 rating) and Tweens 9-14 (1.6 million/6.7 rating), and through its first 17 original airings, is pacing as the No. 1 cable series of all time with Tweens 9-14, 2011 to date. [Source: NTI, 12/27/10-6/12/11, US ratings, based on trackage data with minimum 6 telecasts.]

Disney Channel has presented more than 80 movie titles in its DCOM franchise since 1997. From the first movie, “Under Wraps,” to 2007′s record-breaking “High School Musical 2″ and “Camp Rock,” the DCOM franchise has connected with the millions and millions of kids and tweens who watch them every night. In the U.S., across all basic cable, DCOMs dominate the ratings, having produced basic cable’s
No. 1 original movie telecast among tweens for nine consecutive years and the No. 1 movie in Total Viewers for four consecutive years, an indication of strong co-viewing by kids, parents and families.

The highly anticipated DCOM “Phineas and Ferb: Across the 2nd Dimension,” based on hit animated TV series “Phineas and Ferb,” is set to premiere FRIDAY, AUGUST 5 on Disney Channel, SATURDAY, AUGUST 13 on Disney XD and also on the ABC Television Network (date TBD).
